Paadhai, which means ‘the right path’, is a shelter for girls, situated in Southern India (Chennai, Tamil Nadu). By now thirty girls aged 3 up to 20 live there.
The initiative came from a (multireligious) married couple, Sunitha and Amal, both social workers. They saw the need to help these ‘forgotten children’.
In 2006 Els Vermeulen went to Paadhai India as a volunteer to take part in the daily care of the children and to teach English and was confronted with the harsh reality of Indian girls’ lives. Back home she, helped by some friends, decided to try and improve these girls’ fate.
Ever since four ‘ordinary’ people put their heart and soul in an effort to collect money by organising all kinds of activities (see activities and project).

To be expected :
the following activities
24th April
Indian film ‘Monsoon Wedding’
***
31th May
Day of the park
***
